Special Interest Group 9: Hearing and Hearing Disorders in Childhood is proud to provide you with this year’s joint Perspectives by the Audiology Coordinating Committee (ACC). This year’s theme is on “Quality”.
For over a decade, ASHA has emphasized the importance of having quality practices. In the early years, ASHA formed the Steering Committee of the Quality Improvement Study Section. Chaired by Carol Frattali, several papers were published on quality and quality improvement. ASHA is one of 10 organizations of the Audiology Quality Consortium (AQC), formed in 2008, that provides guidance to audiology practices in developing quality outcome measures and reports to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PRQI). ASHA also has a dedicated website on Quality Improvement for Audiologists (http://www.asha.org/aud/QI.htm).
